Antique German Baby Mold JDK 237

Mold cir 1914
Head incised Made in Germany-JDK 237 Mark 16.

This particular doll was found at the Estate sale of the late Jeanne Breuster, who just recently passed in late December 2007, at the age of 83.  I am adding this note because the Baby "Hilda" came with a letter of her travels. She was quite naked and in a worn box that she had, "I am guessing", spent her whole life in, along with a blond human hair hand made wig. In the box was also a letter indicating her travels, dated December 27,1983, it states that she had started being formed two years prior, which makes her about 27 years old. The letter which is hand-written will be accompanying her to new owners, along with adoption papers for the orphan I have taken in, which will keep her documents up to date.

This adorable baby "Hilda" is on a chubby porcelain Kestner baby body, she has no chips, cracks or imperfections she is perfect, she is of the choicest pale bisque, and is well sculpted, her perfect socket head is fully marked, however she is not inscribed with her makers name or date, she has only her discolored worn documents to prove how long she was in the making and to tell of her travels all around these United States. She has big glass blue eyes that seem to be looking right at you, lightly feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, an open mouth with a molded tongue and two front teeth, a cute button for a nose, with a dimpled chin.

She is dressed in a hand-knitted home-made antique baby dress, as well as home-made underclothing and knitted stockings with German round toed shoes. True to the period she represents.

Price: $2800.00
